Due to construction and renovation of the Pulse we are currently operating out of only 1 temporary location (from May 2022 to August 2022), the Sport Hall gym. Track gym area will reopen in September 2022.

  • Walk-up access to The Pulse is now permitted. Facility users will no longer be required to book workouts in advance (exceptions apply for fitness and cycling classes). All offerings will be on a first come, first use basis.

  • The temporary operating spaces will remain in use during renovations to The Pulse, with completion scheduled for the Fall of 2022.

SUMMER (May 2-August 31) Operating Hours and Locations

☀️ WEEKDAYS 6:00 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. ☀️
☀️ WEEKENDS 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. ☀️

Sport Hall Gym (Thérèse Quigley Sport Hall – DBAC): OPEN

  • Sport Hall is a 16,000 square feet gym equipped with bikes, stair climbers, ellipticals, manual treadmills, dumbbells, benches, cable machines, squat racks, and heavy duty platforms.

Track Gym (Indoor Track – DBAC): CLOSED until September 6th, 2022

  • The Track gym features a Women's Only Area and a co-ed area. The Women's only area is equipped with open floor space, fitness studio equipment, bikes, stair climbers, ellipticals, dumbbells, cable machines, and a selection of pin selectorized machines. The co-ed area is equipped with treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, benches, plate-loaded machines, and pin selectorized machines.

Pop-Up (East Auxiliary Gym – IWC): CLOSED Permanently

  • The Pop-Up Pulse was a 7,500 square foot gym featuring a Fitness Studio/Spin Studio, a Treadmill Area, and a Free Weight Area. It is equipped with spin bikes, fitness studio equipment, treadmills, ellipticals, dumbbells, benches, cable machines, squat racks, and a selection of pin selectorized machines.
  • Equipment will be cleared out and moved to Sport Hall and the Track

Fitness Classes

  • Group Fitness and Group Cycling classes are available to all members. No sign up required. Please drop in. Classes are being held on the Track Level. (Yoga in Mindfulness Centre)

  •  To access a collection of our Virtual Fitness Classes, taught by certified McMaster Pulse Personal Trainers and Fitness Instructors, please visit the Marauder YouTube Channel.

A Pulse Membership includes access to all equipmentdrop-in fitness and cycling classes as well as the Feather Family Climbing Wall. In addition, there is always at least one Personal Trainer monitoring the floor at all times so please do not hesitate to ask if you have a question or would like some assistance.

Welcome to the Pulse Fitness Centre! The Pulse is McMaster University's fitness centre and we have just what you need to lead a healthy, and active lifestyle. Our certified staff members have the skills and enthusiasm to put you on the road to a healthier you, no matter what your current fitness level, what your individual interests are, what your personal goals are, or your limited availability. We offer numerous educational workshops and fitness programs that guarantee Fun, Friendship and Fitness!

Please be aware of the following rules and regulations:

  • Shorts, track pants, wind pants, and tights are permitted. Trousers, jeans, cutoffs, and pants with zippers are not acceptable.  
  • Proper athletic footwear must be worn. Bare feet, sandals, work boots, and dress shoes are not acceptable.
  • Bags and other personal belongings must be left in a locker as these present a tripping hazard in the Pulse. 
  • Remember to bring your membership or student card to scan in at the front desk and to check out equipment.
