We're here for you, Hamilton! The McMaster Department of Athletics & Recreation has world-class facilities that are available for rental, right here in the heart of Westdale. Rates apply to all bookings of activity space. Pricing subject to change. Please contact kellyt@mcmaster.ca for more information, or visit the More Information tab for conditions of use.

  1. Our facilities are open for community use with a valid membership
  2. McMaster A&R offers a discounted rental rate to charitable organizations and school boards
  3. We host local high school championships for various sports, at the local and provincial level
  4. We often host large charities for gatherings and events
  5. Facilities are available for rental to community groups for various activities.  With recreational leagues such as Hamilton Ultimate, Sport and Social club JAM, Average Joe Sports and Graduate Student Leagues. 
  6. Also available to competitive sport groups for practice and games, such has Hamilton Minor Football, Sparta Soccer Club, as well as training camp for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and a practice facility for visiting CFL teams. 
  7. Our facilities have been used for film and television shoots and commercials. Including Disney, YTV, Netflix, All State and Reebok.

More Information

  1. Rates are for play space and required equipment only, does not include team rooms, extra equipment/ supplies required.
  2. A day is considered to be a single day not a 24-hour period, rentals that extend overnight will be charged for 2 separate days.
  3. Rental Rates do not include any associated costs, staffing, set up
  4. External rental groups must provide insurance coverage to minimum amount of $5 million in Commercial General Liability and up to $2 million per occurence. Must also name McMaster University in the policy coverage.
  5. Proof of Athletic Therapy coverage may be required for some events (For example: Rugby, Football)
  6. For spectator events, a minimum $250 charge may be applied for clean up of spectator areas (washrooms, bleachers)
  7. If floor coverings are required, additional charge of a minimum of $250 will be applied.
  8. Lights for fields will be charged at a rate of $25.00.
  9. Use of scoreboard will be charge at a rate of $50.00
  10. Use of sound system will be charge at rate of $50.00
  11. Painting of Lines on fields (No Paint on Ron Joyce Stadium or Track Field B) will be charged at a rate of $50.00 per hour

Use of Athletics and Recreation Facilities by McMaster Student Groups

Most Athletics and Recreation facilities are available on a first-come, first serve basis subject to availability provided you have a valid membership.

All McMaster student groups who wish to BOOK space for exclusive student use in DBAC/IWC/RJS and all outdoor fields must request space through the on-line booking request form

All bookings are subject to rental fees. Internal McMaster rental fees for student groups are based on length of time, facility, availability, season and type of use.

Student Groups must obtain Event approval from EOHSS office for booking prior to rental date.

Fees charged to external user groups are posted online.

Internal rental fees are generally 50% or less of the external posted rates.

Fee waivers for special events may be requested through the Associate Vice-President (Student Affairs) and Dean of Students Office.
