Equestrian Club
McMaster Equestrian is a competitive extramural team that represents McMaster at competitions under the Ontario Collegiate Equestrian Association (OCEA). Riders compete in hunter equitation style competitions consisting of four divisions:
- Entry - riders compete at a height of 18”
- Novice - riders compete at a height of 2’3”
- Intermediate - riders compete at a height of 2’6”
- Open - riders compete at a height of 2’9”
At competitions each division consists of two classes: an equitation flat class and an equitation over fences class. Shows operate in a catch-riding style, with riders competing on horses they have never ridden before. The team competes in five horse shows throughout the school year against other universities in the Central Ontario Zone, with the opportunity of qualifying for provincial finals at the end of the academic year. Each school hosts one show throughout the season and they are organized and run by team members. Horses and tack are generously donated for competition.

Tryouts
Tryouts for the 2024-2025 season have closed, please check back in July/August 2025 for the new application form.
Tryouts are by invitation only. Please fill out the application form to be considered for tryouts.

Instructions: Fill out the application form. The form closes on August 31st, 2024. Please note: in order to be considered for tryouts, you must at minimum be capable and comfortable jumping a full 2' course.
