First Aid - Standard Recertification (Red Cross)

There are no Recertification courses planned at this time.   Given that most training was cancelled in 2020,2021 there are not many people eligible for/interested in the 1 day recertification course. Please carefully read the pre-requisites below for a recertification course, and contact Heidi O'Brien at obrienh@mcmaster.ca if you qualify and would be interested in having a recertification course set up.

All courses to be held in WB113, DBAC.

PLEASE NOTE: If you completed a one-day recertification course for your previous certification , you must attend a full two-day Standard First Aid course to remain certified. One day recert courses can only be done once before full 2-day certification is required again. Following each full two day certification, only the one day recert is required, but it must be completed prior to the certification expiry date, and your certification must be with Red Cross in order to recertify with Red Cross.  All certifications remain in effect for 3 years before expiring.

This is a course to recertify and review skills. CPR C and AED certification included.

Note: Online registration is not available for this course.  Register in DBAC WG 101(pay with debit, cash, cheque or credit card)  or Print Registration Form and email to reconline@mcmaster.ca. If using the form payment is by Visa, MC or Amex ONLY.

Please note that no refunds, only credits on accounts will be issued for cancellations less than 1 business day prior to the course, and no-shows will be charged. For registered employees, department account numbers will be charged for no-shows and cancellations less than 1 business day prior to course.

  • Spring Registration date TBC. (March 6 for the full Standard First Aid courses)
  • Fall Registration opens August 1
  • Winter Registration opens December 1

Information for Staff and Faculty

STAFF/FACULTY:Please verify with your Human Resources advisor if you are eligible for free training. Departments will be charged in the case of a 'no-show' or for cancellations less than 1 business day prior to course. Employee number, department account number, and contact information MUST be included on registration form if you are registering at $0.

What to Wear

Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for performing the skills required for CPR. (kneeling on mats on floor)
