Personal Trainer, The Pulse Fitness Centre

Personal Trainers are responsible for monitoring the Pulse and maintaining the integrity of the gym. Trainers help create a positive space and inviting environment to foster new and returning members in living healhty active lifestyles. Trainers are also encouraged to work towards attaining monthly quotas for personal training sessions. They will continuously strive to meet clients’ varied needs, offering proactive, flexible, client-centered programming. Trainers provide clients with up-to-date, evidence-based knowledge that will encourage each client to reach their goals.

Job Details

Term:

Fall/Winter 2017-18

Scheduled Hours:

Min. 6-8 hours/week

Trainer duties include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Ensuring members are performing exercises safely, offering members advice on technique, assisting members with exercises, and answering fitness-based questions
  • Performing cleaning and maintenance duties, and ensuring equipment is working properly
  • Re-enforcing all Pulse rules and regulations and encouraging gym etiquette
  • Striving to improve fitness knowledge by attending monthly meetings, obtaining Continuing Education Credits, and keeping current with fitness trends and research
  • Gaining own clients for individual ro group personal training sessions, designing and teaching individualized training programs, and stressing proper technique and safe practices

Working to provide a safe, enjoyable and efficiently operated fitness centre for our student, faculty, staff and community members is of the utmost importance.

  • Nationally Recognized Certification (ex. canfitpro, CSEP, CPTN, etc) 
  • Standard First Aid/CPR C
  • Candidates should possess:
    • enthusiasm towards health and fitness field
    • working knowledge of gym equipment, proper technique and form
    • excellent communication skills and value customer service
