Personal Trainer, The Pulse Fitness Centre

Personal Trainers are responsible for monitoring the Pulse and maintaining the integrity of the gym. Trainers help create a positive space and inviting environment to foster new and returning members in living healhty active lifestyles. Trainers are also encouraged to work towards attaining monthly quotas for personal training sessions. They will continuously strive to meet clients’ varied needs, offering proactive, flexible, client-centered programming. Trainers provide clients with up-to-date, evidence-based knowledge that will encourage each client to reach their goals.

Job Details

Term:

Fall/Winter 2019-20

Scheduled Hours:

Min. 8-10 hours/week

Salary:

Floor shifts: $15.46/hour; Training Sessions: Varies

Actively supervise and monitor facility

  • Assist members with proper exercise techniques and answer fitness related questions
  • Enforce Pulse rules and regulations, encourage proper gym etiquette
  • Resolve conflicts in a professional manner, and promptly document and report any incidents to supervisors
  • Maintain a clean and organized facility at all times

Maintain the integrity of equipment

  • Regularly perform equipment cleaning, maintenance duties, and report faulty or damaged equipment

Personal training

  • Gain own clients for personal training sessions
  • Design and teach individualized training programs, while ephasizing proper technique and safe practices
  • Promote and direct members toward Pulse programs and services (personal training, fitness classes, instructional programs, upcoming events, etc.)

Self development

  • Strive to improve fitness knowledge by attending mandatory monthly meetings
  • Obtain Continuing Education Credits
  • Keep current with fitness trends and research

Working to provide a safe, enjoyable and efficiently operated fitness centre for our student, faculty, staff and community members is of the utmost importance.

  • Nationally Recognized Certification (ex. canfitpro, CSEP, CPTN, etc)
  • Standard First Aid/CPR C
  • Candidates should possess:
    • enthusiasm towards health and fitness field
    • strong working knowledge of gym equipment, proper technique and form
    • excellent communication skills and value customer service
  • Candidates must be:
    • available to work a minimum of 10 hours/week
    • available to work weekend and evening shifts
    • comfortable being on their feet for the duration of their shift
