SNAP/Strive Co-Coordinator, The Pulse Fitness Centre

The SNAP/Strive coordinators organize and implement the Special needs Assistance Program (SNAP) and Strive for Health programs. Strive for Health is fitness program designed specifically for adults with special needs. The program focuses on improving fitness fundamentals, while also promoting the development of individual social skills and playing in team settings. Coordinators also pair SNAP clients with a volunteer to help facilitate workouts.

Summer 2018, Fall/Winter 2018-19

Scheduled Hours:

3-10 hours/week

  • Recruitment and training of volunteers.
  • Development, presentation and advertising of the SNAP Program
  • Organizing and implementing the weekly Strive sessions
  • Pairing and scheduling volunteers with SNAP clients
  • Attending monthly staff meetings/trainings
  • Maintain current standard First Aid/CPRC.
  • Certifications in personal training and/or fitness instruction [e.g., ACE, Can-Fit-Pro, CPTN, NSCA] is favorable however not required. 
  • Candidates should posess strong leadership and communication skills, and experience working with individuals with special needs.
