Home Events Assistant (Closed)

Reporting to the Manager, Facilities and Events and the Athletic Operations Coordinator, you will be a member of the events and facilities team of the McMaster Athletics and Recreation Department.

 

As the Home Events Assistant, you will contribute towards the successful operation of all hosted varsity events at McMaster University Athletics & Recreation. You will ensure that all home events are well staffed, and presented in a professional manner in accordance with OUA/USports regulations. In conjunction with the Manager, Facilities and Events and the Athletic Operations Coordinator you will engage an effective student event team, supervising the team to ensure event preparation and management, game day promotions, on-site supervision and post event requirements are carried out to the highest possible standards.

 

During the 2018 – 2019 season, the home events position will assist with football, basketball and volleyball game day, and oversee the soccer, rugby and lacrosse home events. Will take a lead along with the Athletic Operations Coordinator on the OUA championships being hosted by McMaster. Will support with the operation and management of concessions as well as videoboard operations at events which these services are required. Marauders ticketed events require exceptional organizational skills as the quality and professionalism of these events has a direct impact on the overall perception of the department.

Scheduled Hours:

Up to 35 hours per week

Salary:

$18.00/hr

  • Ensure staffing and professional presentation of home events in accordance with OUA/U SPORTS regulations
  • Engage an effective student event team in conjunction witht he Manager, Facilities and Events and the Athletic Operations Coordinator
  • Assist with the presentation of Marauders football, basketball and volleyball game days, and oversee soccer, rugby and lacrosse events
  • In conjunction with the Athletic Operations Coordinator, take a leading role in the execution of OUA championships hosted at McMaster
  • Support in the operation of concessions and videoboards at events which require those services
  • Desire to work in the field of event planning and/or administration within the sports industry
  • Excellent organizational, leadership and written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of the rules, terminology and regulations of a variety of sports
  • Ability to work a variety of hours, including evenings and weekends as required
  • Previous event management experience strongly preferred
