Sports Information Assistant (Applications Closed)

McMaster University's Department of Athletics and Recreation is seeking a part-time/casual Sports Information Assistant, responsible for assisting the Sports Information Officer with the dissemination of information related to McMaster University's varsity athletic programs to both internal and external audiences. This role will involve record keeping, writing, and the creation and distribution of digital content, such as social media posts, press releases, and web articles. The Sports Information Assistant may also assist with game-day operations, including stat keeping, game recaps, and media relations.

Scheduled Hours:

10/week

  • Assist in the coordination and promotion of sporting events, including game day management, team statistics, and media relations.
  • Assist in the creation and distribution of promotional materials, such as press releases, posters, and social media content.
  • Help manage the Marauders official website, marauders.ca, including uploading news stories, game results, and player profiles.
  • Assist in the creation and distribution of game day programs and other publications.
  • Conduct research and compile data for use in media guides, player bios, and other materials.
  • Attend sporting events and assist in media relations, including post-game interviews and press conferences
  • Provide general administrative support to the Sports Information Office staff, including other duties as assigned.
  • Must be a currently enrolled student at McMaster University.
  • Interest in sports, and knowledge of various sports and sporting events.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite is an asset.
  • Experience with website management and social media platforms is an asset.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
