Camps Digital Media Assistant - APPLICATIONS CLOSED

The Camps Digital Media Assistant is responsible for assisting the Camps Coordinator and Communications & Marketing Coordinator with the dissemination of information related to Athletics & Recreation Camp programs to both internal and external audiences. This role will involve the creation and distribution of digital content, such as social media posts, advertisements, and information resources. The successful candidate will support in the planning and execution of photo shoots, programming coverage and other digital media content. The entire camps program ensures that all university and department policies are adhered to, that risk management is given thoughtful consideration in every activity, and that we are actively creating staff, camp and sport culture that contribute to our goal of building a healthy and inclusive community thorugh sport. These values must be present in all materials that are shared.

Scheduled Hours:

Mar-April 0-10hrs/week; May-June 20-30hrs/week; July-Aug 40hrs/week (approx.)

Salary:

$17.50/hour

  • Assist in the creation and distribution of promotional materials, such as press releases, posters, and social media content.
  • Help manage the Camps official website, marauders.ca/camps
  • Assist in managing camp social media accounts on multiple platforms (@McMasterCamps)
  • Conduct camper feedback surveys, collect responses, and develop presentation graphics for stakeholders.
  • Assist in the production of graphics, photo, and video content for internal and external promotional efforts, including but not limited to:
    • Program and schedule announcements.
    • Caregiver guidebook and need-to-know resources such as graphics, website information and informational videos.
    • Staff awards and accolade acknowledgment.
    • Interviews, features, social clips, sport photography, head shots, and commercials.
  • Produce visual content that showcases camp programs, ancillary services, facilities, headshots, camp session team photos and special events.
  • Produce session end videos on a weekly basis for in-camp slideshows and social media platforms.
  • Plan and execute photography and videography shoots, including identifying locations, setting up equipment, and coordinating/directing subjects.
  • Edit and enhance photos using industry-standard software (Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite) to ensure they meet the highest quality standards.
  • Create visually appealing and engaging graphics that reflect the brand and messaging of the Department of Athletics & Recreation.
  • Organize and maintain digital assets using departmental Dropbox account to ensure easy access for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain all photography equipment and ensure that it is in good working order.
  • Collaborate to maintain a detailed content calendar for the purpose of content capturing and to produce digital elements in a timely manner, while meeting overall strategic goals of the camps program.
  • Meet project deadlines and manage time effectively with limited supervision.
  • Prepare and submit print-ready files to vendors.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Camps Coordinator, including other duties as assigned.
  • Community college diploma or equivalent, or enrolment in relevant university program
  • Experience working and programming various Web and Social Media platforms
  • Exeperienced and passionate with respect to creating a safe, inclusive, enjoyable, and memmorable children's sport experience is an asset.

  • July-August 35-44 hours/week (Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm)
